Gretzky Is Everywhere

This simulcast exhibition considers the pervasive nature of renowned hockey icon Wayne Gretzky in Canadian culture, and the mass reproduction of celebrity images that was central to Andy Warhol’s practice. Warhol’s print Wayne Gretzky 99 is exhibited at several galleries across the country at the same time — all connected via live-feed. Viewers become a part of the exhibition as they interact with the camera and the work, gaining their own 15 minutes (or more) of “fame.”
