The Life and Times of…
How do we know what people’s lives were like in the late-1800s and early 1900s? Students are taken step-by-step through the process of archival research, handling copies of original documents to learn first-hand about people who lived through the Spanish Flu Epidemic, the First World War, the experience of immigrating from China, and the damming of the Churchill River. Every photograph and document has a story to tell. Students will also tour a museum exhibition to experience how archival materials along with artifacts and artworks enhance our understanding of the past.
This program can be adapted to meet the curriculum outcomes from Grades 7 through 12. One class per booking.
