Film Screening: Lost Flight of the Eagle

The Lost Flight of the Eagle tells the story of Liberator 44-42169, its commander, and the young crew who were lost to history for more than eighty years.

On February 14, 1945, a lone B-24 heavy bomber struggles to make a safe landing at the snow-choked airbase of Gander, Newfoundland. This film spans thirty years of footage and research and is told through the voices of Gander aviation experts, aviation historians, and family members of the crew, who made the pilgrimage to a lone swath of Newfoundland forest – twenty kilometers from Gander.
