An Atlas of Uncertainty

Artists: Carrie Allison, Marlene Creates, Maureen Gruben, Anna Gustafson, Tammy Hannaford, Emily Jan, Don Kwan, SK Maston, Ethan Murphy, Shawn O’Hagan, Andreas Rutkauskas, Nicole Sleeth

Curator: Mireille Eagan (Curator of Contemporary Art)

At a time when the world can feel uncertain, this exhibition asks: How do we live with change? What art can offer in response?

Working across media such as painting, textiles, video, and photography, the artists explore relationships between land and sea, presence and loss, memory and forgetting, and between human and more-than-human worlds. Their work addresses issues like climate change, resource use, and shifting borders.

Instead of concentrating on crisis, the exhibition encourages us to slow down: to observe carefully, feel more profoundly, and remain receptive to connection. It also creates space for a variety of emotions. Alongside grief and uncertainty, it highlights care, resilience, and new ways of relating—to the land, to each other, and to the future.
