Members Tour – Songs, Stories, and Squid Jiggin’: Music from the Archives FULL

Go behind the scenes for an exclusive tour of the Archives Vault with Greg Walsh, Director of Archives and Collections.

Step beyond the public galleries and into the pages of history as you explore the facts and folklore behind some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most treasured musical traditions and iconic songs.

From homemade instruments and historic sheet music to rare archival treasures, this immersive experience uncovers the many variations of the Ode to Newfoundland, the life and legacy of St. John’s legendary balladeer Johnny Burke, and the surprising inspiration behind Otto Kelland’s “Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary’s.”

This one-of-a-kind tour offers a rare glimpse into the sounds, stories, and people that helped shape the province’s musical heritage.

This program includes a complimentary coffee or tea from The Rooms Café following the tour.

Cost: $20 plus HST (Members Only). Ticket sales open Wednesday, March 11 at 10:30 am. Please call 709-757-8090 to reserve your ticket.
