Photography at The Rooms

Unless an exhibition states otherwise, visitors are welcome to use non-flash photography in the galleries and exhibitions.
 

Photoshoot Guidelines

To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, all photoshoot sessions—both amateur and professional—should be booked in advance through our Rentals team. While there’s no fee for booking, we invite a small donation for your 30-minute session. Click here to donate. 

• How to Book: Reach out to our rentals team at 709-757-8099 or email Rentals team, and we’ll help you get set up!
• Securing Your Spot: A credit card is needed to reserve your time. There’s a $50 no-show fee. If you need to cancel do so 24 hours before your session.
• Check-In: When you arrive, please come to the Visitor Services desk 10 minutes before your session to sign in and get an authorization pass.
• Session Length: Sessions are a maximum of 30 minutes.
• Preserving our Collections: For the care of our collections, flowers aren’t allowed in the building (including bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, or hair accessories).
• Using the Space: To keep everyone safe and comfortable, sessions can’t take place on the stairs, and props, blankets, and bags aren’t allowed on floors or stairs.
• Equipment: Only handheld cameras, please—no tripods or additional setups.
• Respecting Our Furniture: We ask that all furniture stays just as it is, so no moving or rearranging pieces, and please refrain from standing on them.
• Consideration for All Visitors: Other visitors are enjoying the space too, so we can’t ask them to move for photos.
• No Alcohol: Alcohol is only permitted inside and served by The Rooms Café.
• Noise and Disruptions: We ask that noise and disruptions be kept to a minimum to make sure everyone has a pleasant visit.
• Professional Use: The Rooms is a public space, so photographers can’t hold sittings, schedule appointments, or operate as a studio.
• Holiday Décor: During the holidays, decorations like ornaments and tree items need to stay in place to keep things festive for everyone.
• Holiday Season Availability: As this is a popular season, we don’t offer photoshoot bookings from December 10 to January 10.
